Yep, the 2022 Club Championship is right around the corner! We’re going to play the tournament January 20 - 23 so commit to playing, grab your calendar and do three things:
Mark those dates in your calendar so you won’t have conflicts;
Note Wednesday, January 12, at noon, as the entry deadline; and
Put a reminder (or three if that’s what it takes) so you don’t miss that deadline!
Now that you’ve set yourself (and us) up for success, please take a minute to review the following entry information - some of which has changed from last year:
You must be 21 years of age by January 20, 2022, and an active member, in good standing, of the LRAC, LRRC, NLRAC or DAC by December 31, 2021, to participate in all divisions except for Open events.
To participate in an Open event, you must be 18 years of age by January 20, 2022, and an active member, in good standing, of the LRAC, LRRC, NLRAC or DAC by December 31, 2021.
When you register, you will see that there is no 50+ Open Men’s division. We plan to play the 4.5 50+ and 5.0 50+ divisions as a 4.5+ “senior” division.
If you have an NTRP rating, you must use your 2022 rating when deciding what to play. If you don't have one and you're not sure which event(s) to enter, talk to a pro about your level.
If you are not a member of the USTA, you will need a USTA number to register. You can get a free one here.
There is a 2 event limit unless you are trying for a "triple crown" in which case you may register for a singles, doubles and mixed event, age permitting.
Main draw matches may be played at Racquet.
Consolation format is subject to change depending on weather and court availability. Consolation matches may play outdoors at Athletic or indoors/outdoors at Racquet.
Need a Partner? If you’d like to play, but can’t find a partner, email email@example.com with details and we’ll see if we can find one for you.
Draws will be announced by Tuesday, January 18, at noon;
Matches will be played Saturday night; and
Like last year, five team/player draws will play a round robin, i.e. 4 matches over the weekend.
Saturday Night Festivities-
At present, we are planning to have a party but are sensitive to growing Covid numbers. We will make a final decision closer to the date and communicate with registered players via tournament software text messaging.
The Down Under Center and Day Care will be open for extended hours during the tournament. We will post them once they are confirmed. Please note, if we do have the party, it is for adults only.
As you know, we don't do trophies for this tournament but we do want you to have a nice takeaway (besides the memories). This year’s will be a lightweight performance quarter zip. You will be asked your size preference as part of the registration process. For your reference, you can see the manufacturer's product specifications here.
Now grab a partner and get to practicing. There's a 2022 plaque waiting for your name!
