Strong side: When it comes to exercise, I am very disciplined. I do something athletic almost every day. I participate in group classes almost daily at the club. Lately I’ve been doing Charla’s “Mix it Up" class 3 times a week and the Legends class twice a week. For the past 20 years I’ve been a regular yoga practitioner so I do that on Saturday mornings with Lupe. I also enjoy outdoor cycling when the weather is nice, and enjoy walking 3 to 4 miles several days a week while listening to one of my many favorite podcasts.

Soft side: I feel very empathetic for people who have chronic or situational pain. I want to get my hands on them to see if I can help them!

Fun side: Being active and doing something physical is what I do for fun. I love cycling and have been an avid road cyclist for over 30 years. My husband and I have both ridden our bicycles across the US (not together however) and 3 years ago I completed my “bucket list” goal of cycling a minimum of 50 miles in all 50 states.

Secret side: I am very sensitive and empathetic. People who are suffering in any way makes me very sad. People who are in pain and suffer from injuries are what drew me to massage in the first place. I like to help people feel better in their own bodies.

Proof that she’s just like you: I need massages just as much as you do! I work my body hard almost every day and like you, I need regular body work like massage and stretching to stay in good condition. Plus, it helps me sleep better when I get regular massages.

Go to trainer tip: Don’t wait for a vacation to get a massage! Start thinking of massage like car maintenance. Your car needs regular tuneups, oil changes and tire rotations to keep it running smoothly and efficiently and so do we! Massage does for your body what good maintenance does for your car. It reduces, tension and stress, lowers your heart rate and blood pressure, reduces anxiety and depression, improves sleep and many other benefits. You get better mileage when you take care of yourself!

Education and certifications: I have been a massage therapist for the past 16 years, and most of those at the North Little Rock Athletic Club. I have a bachelors of science degree from the University of Arkansas and taught English and General Science for several years in the Little Rock School District. I went to massage school and became a licensed massage therapist after all the kids left home for college. I currently have the licensure of a Master Massage Therapist in the state of Arkansas which means I have a minimum of 250 hours of “hands on” experience and at least 125 hours of continuing education.

Specialties: My expertise is in athletic massage, trigger point therapy, hot stone massage and Active Isolated Stretching (Aaron Mattes technique).
